The Aftermath

Many would have thought that childbirth is one of the most traumatising experiences one could experience. I beg to differ. With the advancement in medical science, childbirth is made so much more bearable these days with epidural and other forms of pain relief. It is actually the aftermath of childbirth that is the often understated.
It has been the most distressing 2 weeks since the arrival of baby Grace. The stress level in the household peaked during the first few days after leaving the comfort zone of the hospital. Thankfully, we persevered and followed the advice given by the Lactation Consultation and Doctor. She’s doing great now. Except for some “fussy” days, she’s waking up only twice for night feeds so far. (Keeping my fingers crossed!)
This was her when she was 1 week old. As compared to the previous photo, you would notice that she had lost some weight and her face looked a little sunken.
A rare moment…. (This was taken just before we headed out to the paediatrician… she probably knew that she was finally getting out of the house for the first time after 1 week! That could have brought some cheer I guess.)
