Dearest 4/3,

First of all, thank you for throwing a mini farewell party for me last Thursday. You really caught me by surprise. Thank you for your thoughtfulness and well-wishes. I will tell Grace of your love. She will definitely love the dress and shoes you bought her.

Honestly, I was overwhelmed that day and there was actually a lot I wanted to say to all of you but I held back as I wanted my last lesson with you to end on a joyful note and not turn it into a teary farewell. However, when I saw the video, I was moved to tears. It brought back many bittersweet memories. It hadn’t been easy when I first took your class. I’m sure the first few months were a struggle as we tried to get used to one another.

Sure, there were times when you were extremely lethargic and won’t listen and I really felt like shooting all of you awake. There were also countless times when all of you just couldn’t wait for lessons to end just so that you could rush to your favourite stall to grab your fried eggs. Gosh! I’ve never seen a class so desperate for fried eggs before!

Nonetheless, you have been a great class to teach. I love your spontaneity and I have also come to appreciate your idiosyncrasies and your crankiness especially when you were high on sugar. You will be affectionately remembered for all the joys that you have brought me!

Lastly, all the best for your national exams and your future endeavours. I will be praying for all of you as you prepare for your exams. Live a life above and not below your potential!
