Grace's First Playgroup
Thursday, May 27, 2010
Dear Grace,
Sat 22 May 2010 is a watershed day for you, because you attended your first unofficial play group with Tyler (Uncle David), Farooq (Uncle Bad) and Kristen (Uncle Ernest). You are the youngest within the group (as 2 month old Travis still cannot play).
Well, you started off crying (too many people perhaps or because you are the only one that cannot walk or speak human words), and then progressed to driving the little toy car, hitting the drum, throwing balls and then touching Kristen on her face. Not a bad start I must say.
More importantly, notice it’s just the fathers and their kids? And this by the way, is the first official group picture of you + the other kids of my best friends/buddies/brothers. We never bothered to try taking pictures before, because it’s just impossible for 4 kids + their dads to look at the camera and smile simultaneously, and judging from the photo, we are still quite far from there. Haha!
The Singapore Nightsky
Dear Grace,
This is the time when you parents become cranky due to the lack of sleep from marking our mid-year examination scripts and taking care of you. The good news once that is over, the June holidays will come and it will be a grrrrreat time for you.
In fact, this week we have brought you out every evening, from your favorite Thomson Plaza to Ikea (Alexandra) and for the first time yesterday 20/05/2010, we (Dad, Mum, Grandma) visited the Marina Barrage.
This panorama picture of Singapore’s skyline is taken with Daddy’s new touch screen camera, not too bad eh?
A staring incident occurred in the car too. Ask me for the story when you read this sometime later in your life.
We have many more exciting trips in store for you…….YEAH!
Happy Mother's Day

This entry is dedicated to the dearest woman in both our lives, your mother = my wife.
Dearest Mummy and Wife,
On behalf of Grace, Happy Mother’s Day! This year is a significant one as it is your first Mother’s Day.
We thank you for all you have done, impossible to list as you’ve done so much and counting, but all that you have done for Grace and me we can never thank you enough. We love you.
This is what Grace will tell you in years to come:

"Just wait until your father gets home."

"You are going to get it when we get home!"
3. My Mother taught me to MEET A CHALLENGE...

4. My Mother taught me LOGIC...
"If you fall out off that swing and break your neck, you're not going to the store with me."
5. My Mother taught me MEDICAL SCIENCE...
"If you don't stop crossing your eyes, they are going to freeze that way."
6. My Mother taught me to THINK AHEAD...
"If you don't pass your spelling test, you'll never get a good job."
7. My Mother taught me HUMOR...
"When that lawn mower cuts off your toes, don't come running to me."
8. My Mother taught me how to BECOME AN ADULT...
"If you don't eat your vegetables, you'll never grow up."
9. My Mother taught me about GENETICS...
"You're just like your father."

"When you get to be my age, you will understand."
And last but not least...
12. My Mother taught me about JUSTICE...
"One day you'll have kids, and I hope they turn out just like you....Then you'll see what it's like!"

Grace's Standing!
Wednesday, May 5, 2010
Dear Grace,
On 23/04/2010, I received a SMS from your Mummy. It reads:
Grace just stood up herself to take a toy from our bed. Show you the video later :)
A few issues hit me immediately when I read the SMS.
a) Hey my daughter is standing. Wow, she’s really fast.
b) Just too bad that I am at work and not there to witness the moment. Thankfully, your mother is teaching part-time now, so she can spend time with you. Please be very appreciative of the sacrifices that your mother has made and will continue making in order to groom you.
For the record, thank you dearest Mrs Koh, your first Mother’s Day is coming.
c) There was a time when Wife would greet me “Dear” first before she typed her message. But not anymore. Where is the love?
Mummy’s reply:
Dear Grace, please tell Daddy that Mummy had the onerous task of keeping a close watch on you (in case you fall), filming you in your momentous act, then messaging your Daddy while trying to stop you from grabbing my handphone and putting it into your mouth. Mummy loves Daddy as much as I love you. It's just that I’m still grappling with the art of multi-tasking.
d) Praise the Lord
