Joyeux Anniversaire

Coincidentally, my birthday fell on the first day of school this year. It was a soft start this year as it started on a Friday, and I had the weekend to rest up before the real thing kicked in this week.
As I come of age, I don't quite pay attention to my birthdays anymore. When I was much younger, I looked forward to my birthday because I wanted to grow up quickly and be independent. But now, I just wish that time can slow down a little so that the onset of fine lines around my eyes and the deepening of my laughing lines could be delayed. Sadly, time waits for no one.
I didn't hear my husband planning for dinner on my birthday, so I thought we would probably go back to my mum-in-law's for dinner as usual. I wasn't disappointed with that at all actually. In fact, I was planning to tell him that if mum wasn't cooking, I wanted to eat Popeyes for my birthday (available only at Changi Airport and the Singapore Flyer). It's a fast food joint, equivalent to KFC but their fried chicken is a different cut altogether from KFC. I simply can't get enough of their fried chicken!
However, being a very thoughtful and loving husband, he brought me to a French restaurant, Le Bistrot at the Singapore Indoor Stadium; something different from our usual fare. I must say that it was a good choice.
It was a stylish yet cozy restaurant with impeccable service that wasn't overbearing. Apart from a group of gals who were inconsiderately yakking and laughing away loudly a few tables from us, the ambience was perfect. The French cuisine was really well-done. We enjoyed the food thoroughly.
For starters, we had Foie gras (duck liver) and Hokkaido scallops.
Quail's meat and Duck Leg Confit were our main courses.
Finally, we had something similar to an apple crumble and lemon tart for dessert. Sorry, we forgot to take a picture of them before we digged in. They were actually exquisitely layed out on the plates when they were served. However, they looked too inviting and alluring that we forgot all about taking pictures. Yeah, what's new right? = P
